Detroit Diesel Offers Free Upgrades for ’07 Engines
Engine maker Detroit Diesel Corp. said Friday that it will soon make a new software release available free to its customers that will boost the fuel economy of its 2007 Series 60 engines.
The company said the improvements will increase fuel economy by up to 2.5%.
Fleet owners and owner-operators can schedule a visit to any DDC dealer or distributor to have their 2007 Series 60 engines re-flashed at no cost, beginning July 1.
Series 60 engines produced after July 1 will automatically be programmed for the modified regeneration cycle, DDC said.
“Extensive testing of the Series 60 has shown our particulate filter regeneration process is more effective than originally anticipated,” said David Siler, Detroit Diesel’s director of marketing.
“The fact that the filters are staying clean, combined with some advancements in the regeneration software, allow us to enhance the regeneration process to improve the fuel efficiency for the engines,” Siler said in a statement.
Detroit Diesel Corp. is a unit of Daimler AG.
