Forecasters Predict Busy Hurricane Season
Government forecasters called for a busier-than-normal hurricane season this year, for the six-month season that begins Friday, the Associated Press reported.
National Weather Service forecasters said they expect 13 to 17 tropical storms, with seven to 10 of them becoming hurricanes, AP said.
The likelihood of above-normal hurricane activity is 75%, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said.
Oil, diesel and gasoline prices soared in September and October 2005 following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
