What are you guys doing for Health Insurance coverage? I am sure there are those who have benefits from various sources such as retirement or marriage via a spouses company, but for those who are independant and have to seek out companies on their own. Are there any guidelines or particular paths to take in getting reputable and realistically affordable coverage?

There are some companies that deal with small business owners and the pool them together to get a lower rate.
I am retired military and over 65 so I am on medicare.

I haven't checked around yet. I took a risky move last year and did not get coverage after I left my original day job. Will be interesting getting qualified again. Soooo not looking forward to this.....

http://www.physiciansmutual.com/ <~ Anybody have experience with these guys? I am looking at Blue Cross Blue Shield as well. Current day job provider is Health Alliance, which they were prompt in sending a welcome package stating that any medical issues one has had in the previous year will not be covered for the first year of their coverage.

That's pretty standard in the industry Brad...there's usually at least a 6 month waiting period for any 'prior issues'. I went to COBRA when I quit Gordon Trucking...pretty expensive but a whole lot cheaper than paying my wife's medical bills!
