Paid $2.54 a mile, 2500lbs per truck body. Nice load when the winds working with you.

Hi Gary,
Are those aluminum ramps up on top of the gooseneck?
If so...mine is the same set up.
What sort of fuel mileage do you get on the dodge? I have been averaging 11-12 loaded on the 06 Ford...I'm unhappy with that.

Yes those are aluminum ramps on top. I purchased them from Tony at TNT ramps out of Alb, NM. http://www.tntramps.com supposed to have another set arriving here on the 26th for my neighbor.
I see better fuel mileage sometimes, it just depends on how heavy and tall the load is. We've seen it drop down to 7 mpg with a tall, heavy load bucking wind. 12 to 15 mpg loaded on the average though. With a empty trailer I can get 18 mpg out of it sometimes. These truck bodies aren't too bad. They sit up at about 12 and 1/2 feet tall on this trailer but there only about 2500 lbs apiece.

Little load I carried down to Winter Gardens this week.
I need some ideas here, I am thinking of mounting a air foil on the front of the goose neck in the same design as the frame. It would be narrow at the base and flare towards the top. I could raise and lower it as I need it or completely lay it down when I didn't need it at all. When it was down it would lay right over the top of the I beams at the top of the neck and be completely out of sight. Any thoughts on that?
One of the owner operators I load everyday has one mounted on his neck. He actually had 2 mounted on his neck but recently pulled the front one off because he installed a new cowtown sleeper and he was thinking the front one might get into his sleeper. His is also retractable and he says it makes a difference, not to mention all the fifthwheel RV haulers mount them on there truck roof. Must be helping there fuel mileage some. If I was moving tall loads with our truck alot I would install one. I allways look for the low profile freight and only move tall stuff like these truck bodies when there paying alot of money. I still want to build a lite weight upper deck for our trailer so I don't think I'll put one on our trailer. I just haven't had the time to build it yet.

I thought of putting one on the truck but thought it would serve a better purpose if it was on the trailer. There is to much dead space between the cab of the truck and the trailer.
