I have been hauling some high end new cars lately (70-95K) Mercedes and Landrovers. Last week I had 150k worth of Mercedes on board. The cost to go to 200k was $500 more per year and $250 for 150k. So I decided to go to the 200k level to be safe. Anyone carrying more than 100k?

Hey Brian, hope your doing ok. I only carry more on a per trip basis if needed. Try to keep the overhead down, yet stay covered.

I've never checked into it, but if you consistently haul auto's of that caliber, it makes sense to have the insurance.

Might make a good selling point to potential customers.

I use Mcnutt a lot on central and they sent me a notice that they will be requiring 150k in the future. Also I signed up with a new broker for this week and they really liked the fact that I had the extra insurance. I think it will help when I start calling directly on the high end new car dealers. The pay for hauling the high end cars has been better. One broker I use has several accounts like that and I get .80 to 1.00 a mile per unit from them. Some of the Military stuff I carry also has a high dollar value on it. Even a new Suburban has a 55k sticker on them, the Hummers must be higher also. Before I had my trailer modified I could only haul 1 car if it was ramped on, so a 100k was fine. But I am hauling back 2 cars now almost every week. So I thought it better to be safe rather than sorry.

Tom how much do they charge you for the per trip increase? I could see how that could work also.
