Morning all, Mark from northern Montana here. Just getting going on the paperwork to get into the biz right now, turns out theres a little more to this than i thought but im taking it in stride and i have had lots of help. I would like to thank Gary at M&H for all the help hes given me and for putting up with the seemingly endless questions ive had for him. Im hoping to be rolling by the end of march if everything goes smoothly and if Gary still has an open slot to fit me into once im ready. Well you all have a safe drive and hopefully i'll see you out on the road in a month or so

WELCOME MAN, I was starting from scratch @ 4 months ago. With Garys help and alot of research, I have been running for almost three weeks now. This is a GREAT way to make a living! If you have any questions just let me know.
Phil.
Actually phil, I do have a question or two for ya. Hows that hefty trailer treating ya? Also, financially speaking is this paying. What im the most nervous about is buying all this equipment and either just barely making it or not making it at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Be safe out there.

Well, this I do know, its worth it! I dont have a boss, I do my own thing! By nature I am a very self motivated person, and a VERY hard worker. I have had some very long days and anybody can read this so I cant be too specific about my "hours of service". I have not turned down one load, I take the good ones, and the bad ones, and its starting to pay off. I will post an actuall break down for my first month as soon as I get the numbers. I have a couple of days off here in Everett WA that I am going to take advantage of.
I forgot the second part, the trailer. My Hefty trailer is OK at best, I just had to have a couple of frame cracks welded IN THE FEILD! I love the bed space, I am really using all 45' and its paying off. I will post more on how Hefty and JD at the factory deal with the repairs that I had to have made. The trailer absolutely pulls like a dream, it doesnt get squirley, and it handles the heavier loads great. But I was over in Vegas loading a couple of cars and a guy with a PJ trailer pulled up next to me to grap one car. That was a very nice trailer! It was only 25' long but the difference in workmanship was unbelievable! That was a great looking trailer! I get alot of compliments on mine, but its just because the thing is so flippin huge! Not because of how its built.
Phil, I think we need to add a second story to your trailer or add a hitch to the back and let you drag an extra 20 footer behind you.
Mark, Phil has that 53' hefty with the 45' deck. He can pass thru TX and exit for nessecities but just can't go more than a mile off the interstate. Being able to load three cars on him sure makes it nice when the freights slow.

Dang thats alot of trailer to be draggin but if it pays thats great. It looks like I should have everything finalized with PJ today on my trailer after extensive changes and such. PJ did suggest that I go with a torque tube with a 40ft trailer so im going to heed theyre advice and have it installed. I found my truck and this little dealership im going through has bent over backwards to make me a good deal so im going to take it. Its an 07 (with the 5.9) 6 spd dually 4x4 quad cab and they are gonna let me have it for 37,000 which in my opinion is not a bad deal for a brand new diesel. Gary, I got to thinking about the ramp situation i was dealing with and i think what i'll do is build myself a set of ramp extensions that i can sit on those 5 footers if i need to load something that sits low, i'll have to just tote them around the best i can since im going to texas to get the trailer but when i get back home i'll fab up a place to stow them on the trailer. As far as everything else goes the only thing im really waiting on is my insurance, which ive found holds up alot of things. But once that gets done everything else should follow fairly fast.

Sur Mark you can build your own ramps. 8' long total should work fine. So three foot extinshions should work, You can just store them up against the gooseneck or even ontop of the gooseneck. Talk to you later Gary
