Crude oil prices fell after United Kingdom police foiled a plot to blow up planes headed for the United States, Bloomberg reported Thursday.
Crude oil futures dropped to $75.66 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, Bloomberg said.
Meanwhile, BP said it may continue to operate the western half of the Prudhoe Bay oil field in Alaska as it repairs corroded pipelines that prompted the oil giant to halt production at the field’s eastern half on Sunday.
On Monday, news of the shutdown pushed per-barrel futures to within five cents of the all-time record closing price set July 14.
