I am going to be applying for my authority this week. Here are the forms that I have.

Am I missing any forms/is their anything else I need to do?

What order do I need to send these forms in?

BIT application (application for terminal inspection)

Start with the DOT number. You can do it online.

You need insurance to get the FMCSA number.

If you have the money to do so it would be easier and quicker to use a processing agent to do this. You are going to need one for part of this anyway. The FMCSA will assign one to you when you apply for their number. They do the BOC-3 filing.

Some of those forms must be CA stuff because I don't recognize them.

If you are a member of OOIDA they become your process agent... I think. $25 to join for the year if you sign up by 1/31, $45 afterwards. They also have a decent drug testing consortium through CMCI for $150 annually +$50 for pre employment testing, & have been told their insurance is good.

Also, when I got started I had my insurance lined out through an agent, got the DOT # & applied for the MC. Obviously the MC kicked itself out for lacking an insurance attachment, but gave a 60 day window to be attached. Going that route gave me a bigger window getting everything lined out before I had to start paying for the insurance.
