The Truth About Coffee
Are you a coffee drinker? More than 130 million Americans are. In fact, the United States accounts for 23% of worldwide coffee consumption.
I’m a coffee drinker myself, but it wasn’t until recently that I sat down and really thought about how my morning routine might be affecting my body. As it turns out, coffee isn’t so bad for us, after all. In fact, it can even be considered “good” for a large part of the population. The average daily intake of coffee contains nearly 1,300 milligrams worth of antioxidants, which dampen inflammation and are believed to be positive and preventive when it comes to chronic diseases.
This good news doesn’t mean you should guzzle as much as you can or opt for coffee over fruits and vegetables. A balanced diet is extremely important -- and there’s still the issue of caffeine to consider if you’re pregnant, wanting to become pregnant, having trouble sleeping, or experiencing stomach pain or jitteriness.
