Hi Steve Absher,
You wrote in another thread here:
"ALSO if you are in a rest area, hooked to your trailer and sleeping in the truck be ready to get woke up .....they are looking at the log books to determine if your taking sleeper time or off duty time .... if you take sleeper, then you need a LEGAL sleeper on your truck ... if you take OFF Duty Time then you Cannot be hooked to the trailer ... you have to drop it and be out from under it ... 12 inches is all it takes, then you have to flag the off duty time with DROP TRAILER, the next day you just pick it up where you dropped it and be on your merry way "
I know it may be miserable but I would like to "on occasion" nap/sleep IN my truck. Could you elaborate on this unhook rule???...so if I want to take my 10hrs off-duty, I can park 1 foor from the trailer and sleep. Please also show me where this is in the regs.

dude, asking questions are a good way to get info, look in your green driver rulebook to find the regulations,( all drivers must have one of these), the last thing you want to do is take advise from another driver, besides, it seems like u just jumped into this w/out finding out the rules, to many wanna-bees are the reason dot is cracking down.

Unhooking is a great idea BUT, after some hard driving who wants to. I'm going to apportioned plates and a cdl A then get a sleeper on the truck. I'm setting it up for 36k so I'll have enough lee-way to put a aux fuel tank on and sleeper. Sleeping in the back seat is fine if your 5'4". Even with the back seat out it's still cramped.
Also a little fyi, when you idle your trucks while you sleep, crack your windows. You could wake up dead from CO2 affeciation.
