FYI: IL Level Two InspectionsIL is filling the bottlenecks of the scale houses and giving level two inspections to about 80% corralled. Pick ups are automatic.
I have seen them doing this for the past two weeks at several locations.

I would say that pickups are most likely to fail. It is also a good way to catch the illegal operators. I know it is inconvienent but something has to be done to get rid of the illegals.

Yeah....sad but true. The guy that did mine was pretty cool and I learned a thing or two.
One thing that was interesting was that I had been doing/marking down post trip inspections and the officer asked why I was doing that? I told him I had called the FMCSA last year & their direction was to always mark down your post trip inspections but single truck operations did NOT have to do pre trips. He pulled out his book and showed me the exemption written for both the pre & post trip. 393.11 I think.
Other than that, pretty standard inspection.

I found out about that when they did my audit at 6 mos. Under 26K pre adn post trip insp are not required. I still always looked the truck and trailer over everyday and also during the trip.

So you don't have to do a Pre-trip inspection? Maybe you should atleast look the rig over.
Heard a story on the Nemo show the other day. I guess a guy running a 18 wheeler, got up and went from the sleeper to the driver's seat and went to leave the Truck Stop. Unfortunatley he lost the last 8 wheels during the night. Someone put his trailer up on blocks. I bet he woke the neighbors up.
TC, you are a wise man, best to be careful.

Notice that I said I always looked the truck over every morning and thru out the day. I do that even when I travel for pleasure.
The inspections are not required to be logged however under 26K. You can but it is not required.

The exemption I read was for single truck operations. Add another truck and you have to start logging the inspections.

I think you are correct now that I think about it.
