ITS ABOUT TIME!

Well Ive got an appointment to write my insurance policy. It is $2200 down and $734 a month. The name of the company is Desert Sun insurance in Phoenix, but I am not sure witch company they are writing me with yet. I will post that later. This policy just continues at the same price with no claims every year instead of having to come up with a down payment every year. Its getting exciting again! Very Happy

Thats the best way. Thats what I have. There probably going to put you with Wilshire. Sounds like your getting it handled alright. Hey if your ready to roll this week I have a motorcycle to move from Phoenix to milwaukee??? Could be a good starter to building a good load?
Phil

Thats right

Yes Gary you are right, they wrote me with Wilshire. The isnurance is effective but I am still waiting for my apportioned plates. I dont know what the deal is with that. I filled out all the paper work at az motor carrier two weeks ago and havent heard anything. I really want that load but Im not sure when the plates are going to be here.
mhlogistics

You should ask them for a temperary. If AZ is anything like CA they could be backed up. There's been several times I've operated on temperary registration. I remember a few years I paid in January and didn't receive my plates or tags until October. I had to keep getting a temperary cab card. They would be good for like 2 or 3 months and every time it was close to expiring I'd call them and they would fax me a new one. You may want to call them?
Phil

THANKS

Thanks Gary I am going to call them today. But I have not heard anything on my trailer yet, Bart told me that he would call me when he had a date two weeks ago and I still havent heard anything. So I am calling him today too. I will let you know when I get everything together, I am getting really anxious to start.
mhlogistics

Let me know what Bart tells you. It's still vary slow right now. I'm managing to keep a few trucks rolling and acassionally we're finding a good piece of freight. I got a call earlier on a partial 6'x6'x4' 6000 lbs. A really hot little piece of freight out of TX going to CA for $3800.00. I gave it to one of my Owner Operators down there. Made his day!
Phil

WOW

That would make my day too. I am still on schedual to hit the road the first or second week of February. I really hope it picks up by then! You were telling me that it generally starts to get busy around that time, so I am hoping for the best. Dead head me to New York to start, I just want to get rolling. Bart never returned my call, I am going to call him back today. Also I am going to Motor Carrier today to see about that cab card. See ya!
mhlogistics

Mid to the end of February is when it usually starts to pick up. We'll find you a load. It's just slow going right now.
Phil

GREAT

I cant wait, I talked to Bart, and he said that they are having trouble because of the ice storms. But it looks like my trailer will be ready on the 25th or the 26th of this month.

Phil I have a new guy that came on with us, he had his trailer built by hefty. Anyways I loaded him just the other day with his first load. He delivered in Miami today. Everything went smooth. Well there was no freight in Miami and only a handful of vehicles down there and they were'nt paying anything. So I told him to go ahead and work his way up to Tampa. I called him with a car in Naples FL and he pulled right off the exit and right up to the dealer. A few minutes went by and he calls me and says the car won't go up the ramps without hitting the front end. Come to find out the ramps they put under his trailer are only 4 foot long. There supposed to be 9 to 10 feet long. Like I've been saying the freights pretty slow right now, and now that I can't put some cars on him it's not looking to good. If I were you I'd call them and make sure your ramps are long enough. And before you take delivery really look the trailer over. Look at the welds and make sure they've done a good job on it. JD's pretty good about taking care of his customers so if you find something that doesn't look right tell him about it. I just don't want to see you having any trouble on the road. And make sure you measure the bridge ( from the center of the rear axle to the center of the king pin) It should be right at 40' or just a few inches under. Anything over 40' and you won't be able to roll into California with it.
Phil

THANKS

Thankyou Gary, I will call them today.
Phil

Check out

Ok, I just talked to Steve over there at Hefty, the king pin to the center of the rear axle will be at 40' and the ramps are going to be 9' long. Thanks again for the heads up Gary, that would not be a fun situation to run into. Was he able to load the car with blocking or lifting the front of the trailer up?
mhlogistics

Dealership won't even let him try to load it now. I may of just found him a piece of freight though? I'll know in a minute.
