Do you need the KIT authority to run in KY if you are under 26,000lbs?
I have SSR and KY is one of the states listed but I was under the impression we needed seperate athourity to run in KY.
Can anyone answer this for me?

I live in Oregon but have to travel and haul in KY.The way it reads is if you are over 26,001 lbs. I want to know if you are under 26,000lbs do I need the KY registration other than my SSR that lists KY.
Thanks
Don

No the standard DOT number you have will allow to do pickups and drops in Ky. In this state you need to have KYU numbers if you are 60,000 lbs. Now if you live in Ky and operate with only the state of Ky they have a third set of numbers that you have to get even if you are under 26,000.

I don't know what KY wants on these smaller trucks but on the big trucks I've been selling off they charged me every 3 months based on the value of my equipment. Even if I didn't travel in KY? I pulled them off my registration completly now they don't get jack! I figure if I need to go there I'll get a temperary trip permit or sneak in under the radar, LOL.

If you have SSR you will receive tax forms from AR and KS. No choice but to file them. They want their part of the pie too. KS is real interesting the way they do it. It is based on value.
Tad - I filed for the trailer in 2005 in KS. It is based on value. Disregard the trailer for 05 but you will need to include it for 06.
