Maintenance/Repair and Replacement Costs P/M

This poll could be helpful for a lot of old owner/operators and those wanting to get in. Help us all out by telling us what the cost per mile figure is that you use in calculating your operating costs.
D. Green

How about for two different style trucks? Could only vote once. Smile

The Dodge & GN average .445 per mile

The S/W flatbeds average .235 per mile (Gasoline has been sooo much cheaper this year)

Bear in mind that I do most of my own maintenance, & what repairs I can, so that reduces the rate, somewhat.
Tom Cobb

Dennis are you including fuel in those figures?

I was trying to get just the maint and repair costs excluding fuel.

I am looking a doing a different slant on what I was doing before and want to determine if I am in the ball park for maint and repair costs. I know it will vary but I wanted to see how much the variance is and then we should all be able to extropolate a reasonable guesstimate from that.

Thanks for your input.

PS - I may give you a call in the next few days to pick what is left of your brain. LOL
D. Green

If'n you want what's left of my brain, ya better hurry, it's going fast. Laughing

Yeah, included fuel, back out .237 on the Dodge/GN & .165 on the S/W's

Tom,
I have to agree on the 44C a mile figure. I usually try to figure in a $1 mile for overall costs and with todays fuel costs that puts about 50-60C/mile in the "bank" for replacement /repairs. That way if you do go "down" on the road, your costs are covered because you know what "shop time" costs Shocked
I've been lucky on down time as its been minimmal. I've replaced a couple of tires and some minor brake repairs but, thats about it. Wink

Good to see you over here. How's everything going for you?

When I do my costs spread sheet I separate fuel because it varies so much. I had a separate line for maint and repair, etc. This figure is pretty stable. Maint cost increase periodically but not like fuel does. That is why I wanted to keep the numbers separate.

I haven't been doing much except trying to sane but am not succeeding at it. My knee is about as well as it is going to be without replacement. I had eye surgery last week and waiting on it to heal up.

Be careful out there and keep it between the lines.

I was running my "tail" off until the fires hit in CA. I did a SLC turn this week and that was it. I've had a decent year so, if I have to wait out the "storm" its not going to be a problem.
I just "reupped" all my insurances, registrations and all my annual o.d. permits for 2008 so, I'm ready for it to bust loose! My dedicated has been busy, just the freight has been to heavy.
Hope all is well in the Cobb household.

Hey Jerry, There's a possibility it could bust loose sooner than expected. We've been getting plenty of phone calls this week for freight all over. Locked up some pretty decent loads this week for the guys were loading. We're also waiting on a new account to kick in. There waiting on shipments from overseas and when they arrive there will be enough to keep a lot of us busy through winter. They'll be light weight no tarp loads. When they come through I'll be calling you.
