What do you guys know about prepass? I got some info on it today and it costs @ $16.00 a month per truck. They send you the transponder in the mail in about 5-7 days. You get the green light and you pass the scale house. What do you think, waist of money or a good idea?

We had it on our big trucks. Worked great and well worth the $16.00. Been thinking of getting it for our hotshot. Just haven't done it yet.

I know of drivers where DOT has pulled up the PrePass log to see 'when' you went through. If times don't match up on your log...bam...false log fine.
I realize that on the PrePass web site it mentions that this won't happen.....yeah right!

Phil, as I mentioned on the other site, I use it. I like it, and it cost me $14.95 a month. It's based on your safety rating on how often you get pulled through.
The more DOT inspections that you go through without a problem, the less you get pulled in. I've had two inspections, they say that after the third or so, it gets better. (Pre-pass told me this).
I've heard the stories to about the legal issues, but was told that Pre-pass did not release the information, and that it was only kept for so long. If they tell you this and it's not true. I would think they could be held responsible for their actions.
I just know I like it, but not sure if you can get it for a pick-up. I seem to recall that in their statement. That you had to be in a certain weight class and then if you did have it, certain states would not reconize it on pickups. I would have to pull my papers to see what it said.
