I have not seen one. I wonder if it is just not an industry standard that is used to compare different manufactures models with each other, and maybe intended level of service for a truck.

Hello folks... TomC, thanks for the link, I had lost it during my last 'puter crash.
I found this table of truck classes on an RV site, some time ago. Seems the RV folks keep abreast of most towing vehicles.
Wt Class MinGVWR MaxGVWR Common Category
class 1 6,000 light duty
class 2 6,001 10,000 light duty
class 3 10,001 14,000 medium duty
class 4 14,001 16,000 medium duty
class 5 16,001 19,500 medium duty
class 6 19,501 26,000 medium duty
class 7 26,001 33,000 heavy duty
class 8 33,001 heavy duty
Hope the formatting holds.......

Cool link Dennis. How are you doing? Two weeks ago I saw a deer on I40 in central NC after dark feeding near the road, then the next day at dusk in VA near the WV border one ran out in front of the car ahead of me. It ran back into the woods with out getting hit. The guy swerved though and was lucky not to loose it. Was thinking of you. We need more hunters I think.

Thanks Dennis. That is what I was looking for. Good to see you here. It was nice to talk to you today as well and good to know you are healing up and doing well.
I thought once before that what I had seen classed the so called 1-ton (which really isn't at 1-ton) as med duty. The 4500 and 5500 falls into the med duty but after that they are heavy trucks. Like TGpilot, his truck is a minimum of 26K and a max of 33K.
The new Petes are class 5 and 6 (325 and 330) same as the GM 4500 and 5500. I actually thought they were class 4 and 5. That is why I was looking for the chart. I don't know what truck is in the class 4. A dually is a class 3.

Most class 4 vehicles are the imports, Isuzu, UD, Hino, etc. They have a variety of trucks rated from 14k to 18k gvw.

I didn't think about those. I occassionally see some of those import cabovers hauling freight on a gooseneck trailer. I saw one hauling cars. Most of them are box or flatbeds doing local work.
One of them passed me like I was tied up. I didn't know they would run that fast. He must have been doing 80 with about 40 ft of trailer.
