Been lurking around the site for a few weeks now, and registered last night!
There is a ton of great info on this site..
A little about me:
My name is Nick I am a 25 year old forth generation driver (soon to be a o/o) from Wichita, KS, and looking at my third lay-off in the aircraft industry in five years.
My father (In Albuquerque NM ), and I have been looking at Big shot, hot shot trucking for a few years now. I have decided to make the first "jump" at it...
I am not looking to buying anything or getting started till around April-May of next year.. I would like to take some time to look around and see if I can get some contract, or dedicated loads in, and out of my area.
So as always any help is much appreciated..
Bt the way I have already sent a PM to Gary with hopes of "picking" his brain clean!!
Keep up the good work on the site, and drive safe there are a lot of money hungry idiots out there trying to werck "US".

I run big-shot, and it's a lot better than running the pickups for me. Plus having a sleeper and air-ride. Able to haul a lot more than the pickup's, therefore, more freight means more money, less loads passed up.
My trailer is a 53' step-deck, low-pro, 9K winch, ramps and wedge. Of course, this means CDL, IFTA, etc. One off-sets the other.

Cdl,Ifta, and all the others dont bother me.
I just dont want to set my self up to fail..
I think that big shot would be right for me... I don't see many hot shot trucks around here which tells me that I am going to be gone alot, I am not much of a motel guy.. I would rather have my own bed with me...
Hey, Tom
Do you happen to have any pic's of your rig you would send me?
Thanks Nick
